Lerato Mogoatlhe is the Community Building Lead at Africa No Filter. She is a media professional with more than a decade of experience gained in various roles in publications that include City Press, Sunday Times, Drum and Cosmo SA. She has also written for the Mail & Guardian, Sunday Independent, the Africa Report and other leading publications in Africa. She has also worked at digital agencies with a portfolio of clients who included Facebook, Google and Girl Effect Mobile.
She made her mark as a journalist through pioneering journeys that saw her live and travel around Africa for five years as part of her vision of rewriting African narratives beyond stereotypes of doom and gloom. She is also the author of travel memoir, Vagabond: wandering through Africa on faith.
Lerato’s passion for disrupting stereotypical narratives about Africa comes from her belief that whatever else Africa is, it is first and foremost home. It’s her life’s work to showcase an Africa that’s creative, inspired and inspiring, innovative and empowered. She joins Africa No Filter from Global Citizen, where she led the organization’s content strategy in Africa.
