Bio

Flavia is a Commissioning Editor for Multichoice and Showmax under the Local Entertainment Channels that focus on mass market. She particularly works in the scripted department with the primary role is to originate, develop and commission innovative new scripted programs taking into consideration the channel's positioning and overall strategy project manage and provide creative leadership during the development, production and post production process, encouraging innovation whilst maintaining broadcast standard for the programs. She manages some of South Africa’s biggest telenovela’s and series such as; Africa’s most loved Telenovela, The Wife, Gomora (SAFTA’s winner as 2021’s most popular soap), The International Emmy Nominated S1 of the River, the SAFTA winning series Housekeepers that has been adapted in various regions in Africa as well as other drama series such as Unmarried, Ikhaya, Ifalalkhe, Nqobile, Ithemba and Lavish to mention a few to name a few. She Co-founded & served as a board member in a non-profit organization called SWIFT (Sisters Working in Film and Television) which is an organization that advocates for gender and race parity, recognizing the intersectionality of women’s experiences in the Film and Television Industry. Flavia headed up the skills and mentorship sub-committee as well as the sisterhood cinema national division for SWIFT and was involved in high level strategic sessions, panel discussions and awareness events dealing with eradicating sexual harassment in the film and television industry and was involved as an executive producer for the recent SWIFT #thatsnotok anti-sexual harassment PSA campaign. Flavia’s most recent panel discussion include her moderating s the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and UN Women South Africa Multi-Country Office “Step It Up For Gender Equality Conference” on a session about storytelling for social change: Reflecting on Society & Stereotyping panel discussion. She also participated as panelist during the Abu Dhabi 2022 Culture Summit, sharing insights on the Global Perspective on African Storytelling. Her passion for the Film and Television industry transcends beyond just creating amazing and entertaining content, but also focuses on depiction and messaging around the content that is being put out in the various platforms, but most importantly women empowerment and transformation on and behind the screens.
